CMS Issues Final Patients’ Rights Rule Regarding Use of Restraints and Seclusion in Hospitals

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid ("CMS") has issued a final rule for all participating hospitals, which goes into effect on January 8, 2007, revising the standards for the use of restraints and seclusion in hospitals and expanding upon the standards for staff training and death reporting.
