Contrary to the old adage, the month of March is "in like a lamb and out like a lion" for legislative committees. In a short session, the timelines for the committee process are compressed and the mid-to-end of March is a busy time for committees with bill deadlines, public hearings, and joint favorable report deadlines all packed into a few weeks.
The deadline for Raised Bills (i.e., committee requests to fully draft bills that are not based on Proposed Bills) has passed. The deadline for Committee Bills (i.e., requests to fully draft bills based on Proposed Bills that have had a public hearing) is coming up in the next week for most of the committees. As a result, by the end of next week we will know the pool of bills (either Committee or Raised) for this session. That pool of bills will then be further narrowed at the Joint Favorable Report deadline, approximately 10 days later.
