The 2011 legislative session adjourned on June 8, 2011. The table below is a list of new Public Acts regarding environment, energy, and land use that may be of interest. This is not intended to be a comprehensive list but rather a select list of Public Acts we have been monitoring during the session. The Acts are organized in the table by their committee of origin; the acts that started as “emergency certification” bills are listed under “other committees.”
Many of the Acts passed in the closing days of the session do not have Public Act numbers yet; as the Public Act numbers become available, they will appear on the "Bill Status" page. If a bill was amended but did not receive a new file copy before final passage, then the most recent file copy is included in the table below along with links to each of the subsequent amendments (e.g., House A; Senate A) adopted.
Now that the session has adjourned, the Governor has 15 days from the date of receipt of an engrossed bill to either sign or veto the bill. If after 15 days he has not signed or vetoed the bill, it automatically becomes law. If any Public Acts are vetoed, the legislature will hold a veto session to consider or attempt to override those vetoes.
