Sara Goldfarb is an associate in the firm’s Government Investigations and White Collar Criminal Defense group.  Sara represents companies and individuals in government investigations, internal investigations, and white collar criminal matters.  She has represented clients in investigations by the Department of Justice, the SEC, the FTC, FINRA, state attorneys general, and state banking regulators. Sara has also conducted internal investigations for companies in a variety of industries, including financial services, banking, environmental, insurance, aircraft engineering, construction, and information technology.  Sara’s experiences include white collar criminal investigations relating to fraud, insider trading, antitrust, SEC regulations, the FCPA, international trade compliance and enforcement, computer fraud, data privacy, and public corruption. 

Sara also has extensive experience in complex commercial litigation. Her litigation experience includes disputes involving copyright and trademark infringement, first- and third-party insurance coverage and bad faith actions, toxic torts, and antitrust class action litigation.

Prior to joining Shipman & Goodwin, Sara represented a senior executive of AIG Financial Products in connection with SEC and DOJ investigations of AIG’s collapse as well as the valuation of complex structured products and derivatives, including mortgage-backed securities, CDOs and credit default swaps. The investigations were closed without charges.

Sara is an Executive Committee Member of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Criminal Justice Section and a Co-Director of Special Projects and Executive Committee Member of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Young Lawyer Section.
