Shell Fishing License Revocation Hearing

Long Island Commercial Shell Fisherman

Represented a commercial shell fisherman on Long Island Sound facing a revocation of his commercial shell fishing license and possible loss of his leases to certain shell fish beds. Client appealed the revocation of the fishing license issued by the Bureau of Aquaculture of the Connecticut Department of Agriculture. During a multiple-day administrative hearing regarding the validity of the revocation, the administrative hearing officer determined that allegations by Department of Environmental Protection Law Enforcement personnel were not adequately supported by facts. The hearing officer also found that the client had not violated the terms of his shell fishing permits or his shell fish leases, and the client retained his permits and leases.
