Elva Saltzman is an associate in the firm’s Tax and Employee Benefits Practice Group. Her practice focuses on representing clients on a variety of matters related to international, federal, state and local taxation. In her practice, Elva focuses on representing clients on a broad range of matters with emphasis in Qualified Opportunity Zones, mergers and acquisitions, and matters involving the taxation of partnerships. Together with the other members of the Shipman & Goodwin Tax and Employee Benefits Practice Group, she has represented individuals and companies with regard to tax planning, mergers and acquisitions, enforcement and collection defense, and other federal and state tax controversies. Elva works with closely held businesses organized as limited liability companies, real estate joint ventures, partnerships and S corporations.
Elva’s work includes working with the Opportunity Zones team on deal structures, Qualified Opportunity Fund formations, tax planning, advice and compliance.
While in law school, Elva served as a volunteer tax adviser for the Global Connections’ Tax Assistance Program at Penn State University, and as a research assistant for the International Sustainable Development Projects Law Clinic at Penn State Law. In addition, Elva worked as an intern for the Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic of Philadelphia Legal Assistance.
