P. Murphy and M. Ritter Among Hartford's 40 Under Forty

Attorneys Peter J. Murphy and Matthew D. Ritter have been selected by the Hartford Business Journal as two of its “40 Under Forty” outstanding young professionals in the Greater Hartford area who are excelling in their industries and communities through their leadership, commitment to business success and involvement in the community. 
Peter J. Murphy is a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment practice, where he advises public and private employers in a wide range of labor and employment disputes, including claims of discrimination, wrongful termination and first amendment retaliation. He has successfully represented clients in cases before the United States District Court, the Connecticut Appellate Court, the Connecticut Supreme Court and state and federal administrative agencies. Attorney Murphy has been selected as a Connecticut Super Lawyer Rising Star for the last four years, and is a frequent speaker and author on employment issues in Connecticut. His extensive volunteer activities in the Hartford community include serving on the executive committee of the Young Leaders Advisory Council at Hartford Hospital; participating as a member of the Church Council at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hartford; serving as a board member and secretary of the Hartford Youth Scholars Foundation; and being a board member of Key Human Services.

Matthew D. Ritter practices in the areas of public finance, municipal law and election law, and has been recognized as a Connecticut Super Lawyer Rising Star. In addition to his law practice, he is currently in his second term as the State Representative for the 1st Assembly District, which covers parts of Hartford. In the General Assembly, Attorney Ritter serves as the Vice Chair of the Judiciary Committee, and is also a member of both the Banks Committee and the Planning and Development Committee. In the community arena, Attorney Ritter has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford and a Corporator for Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.
