CEN Member Training Webinar: Data Privacy

Gwen Zittoun will present a CEN Member Training program on Tuesday, September 27th. 

Protecting the privacy of students, faculty, and staff in the public K-12 space is imperative. This presentation will address relevant federal and Connecticut statutes regarding student data privacy. This discussion will focus on Connecticut PA 16-189, as well as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Best practices for fulfilling a district’s responsibilities will be discussed, including review of a vendor’s Privacy Policy and contracting with vendors. Attendees will learn the requirements for complying with Connecticut’ student data privacy law, the federal rules relative to the disclosure to third parties of personally identifiable student information, and when parent consent is required prior to sharing student information.
