TABS Annual Conference 2025

Julie Fay will be presenting "Law School 101 for School Leaders" with Dr. Alex Curtis, Head of School at Choate Rosemary Hall, at the TABS Annual Conference 2025. 

While heads and other school leaders don’t need to be lawyers, it does help to understand key legal principles and concepts in managing risk and responding to potential claims.  This session will provide a primer on things all school leaders should know about the law, whether in connection with an employment dispute, student discipline matter or accidental injury on campus.  We will discuss concepts such as negligence, indemnification and insurance, attorney-client privilege and practical issues like when to put your insurance carrier on notice or inform your board of potential legal claims.
