Taking Hate to Court: Leveraging the Law to Counter Antisemitism and Bias
Anti-Defamation League's Never is Now Conference 2022 | Speaking Engagements
November 10, 2022
Joette Katz will be a panelist for "Taking Hate to Court: Leveraging the Law to Counter Antisemitism and Bias." The panel discussion will be one of the featured CLE breakout sessions at the Anti-Defamation League's (ADL) Never is Now Conference at the Javits Center in Manhattan, NY on November 10.
This session will explore ways the law is being used, and could be used more effectively, to counter antisemitism, discrimination, and bias-motivated attacks against Jews and other religious minorities. Indiana Law Professor Robert Katz, who is working with ADL on a new legal casebook on Antisemitism and the Law, will moderate the discussion and offer insights on the role the law plays in countering these forms of hate while protecting religious freedom. Panelists, including Joette, will focus on two examples, looking at civil laws on zoning and criminal laws on doxing and assessing their role in protecting the Jewish community. This CLE-eligible program will provide insight on how to use the law to help fight antisemitism and bias in our communities.
