Advise dozens of schools in responding to (or proactively avoiding) indoor air quality and health concerns (e.g., mold, radon, asbestos, lead-based paint, PCBs, chemical fumes, vehicle exhaust, pesticides, formaldehyde, drinking water and other substances). Our team, often in tandem with a technical consultant, guides schools through the necessary compliance steps and best practices to help academic institutions provide acceptable indoor air quality, drinking water and chemical exposure safety to their occupants on a day-to-day basis or in connection with an incident or construction project. We advise Connecticut public school districts and boards of education on new statutory requirements to conduct and publish results of indoor air quality evaluations and to incorporate the federal Environmental Protection Agency’s “Tools for Schools” guidelines into such evaluations.
