Louis B. Schatz (“Lou”), a partner and chair of Shipman's State and Local Tax Practice Group has been appointed to the Connecticut Payroll Tax Working Group, a 13-member body established by the Connecticut General Assembly pursuant to Public Act 26-68 to study and consider the adoption of a new payroll tax in the state. Representative Jason Rojas, the House Majority Leader, announced the appointment in a letter dated September 10, 2026, selecting Lou to fill the seat reserved for "an attorney with experience in tax law in this state". Lou brings significant knowledge and experience in Connecticut tax law to this important legislative initiative, which will help shape the state’s future tax policy.
