Shipman partner Sarah Westby was quoted in the SupplySide Food & Beverage Journal article, “Hemp beverage industry fights federal THC ban as regulatory deadline looms.” In the article, Sarah shared her perspective on a proposed continuing resolution that would delay the impending federal hemp THC ban for one month, from November 12, 2026, to December 11, 2026, and discussed why many in the hemp industry remain optimistic about the potential for a longer-term regulatory solution.

"You might think that that is a very short amount of time, and it is," Westby told SupplySide Food & Beverage Journal. "But I think the reason why the industry is feeling optimistic, if this continuing resolution goes through, is that we have the recently proposed Lawful Hemp Protection Act … which is a pretty comprehensive piece of legislation that would create a meaningful pathway for hemp-derived products, particularly for those manufacturers who are responsible and committed to regulatory compliance and who have been operating within state restrictions."
