Shipman & Goodwin LLP is pleased to announce that Sarah Kettenmann has joined the firm as an Associate in the Environmental Law Practice Group.

“We are delighted to welcome Sarah to Shipman & Goodwin,” said chair of the Environmental Practice and Management Committee member, Andrew N. Davis. “Sarah is a standout environmental lawyer; our clients and colleagues will benefit from the wealth of national and international experience she brings to the firm in the realm of environmental law.”

Sarah maintains a robust regulatory practice focused on federal and state environmental, health and safety (EHS) laws. She guides clients through compliance and enforcement actions under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). Sarah is well-versed in international environmental standards, providing advice and guidance to effectively adapt environmental management systems at manufacturing sites across the globe. Sarah also assists clients with EHS auditing and transactional due diligence.

Sarah clerked for the Hon. Chase T. Rogers, Chief Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court, and served as a judicial extern for Judge Laura Taylor Swain in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York (S.D.N.Y.). She earned certificates in Environmental Law and International Law from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, where she received her J.D., cum laude. Sarah received her Master of Environmental Management degree with a specialization in Industrial Ecology and Green Chemistry from Yale University School of the Environment, and received her bachelor’s degree in political science, magna cum laude, from Carleton College.

“I am thrilled to join Shipman and its environmental team,” said Sarah. “My career has been devoted to studying the environment and finding solutions that balance the business interests of clients with their regulatory obligations.  I am excited to offer my expertise to Shipman’s clients and assist them in navigating the sometimes-murky areas of compliance.”

Sarah is licensed to practice in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York and will be resident in Shipman’s Stamford office.
