Shipman & Goodwin LLP ("Shipman") is featured in a new customer story published by Harvey, the AI platform for legal and professional services. The story describes how the firm is using the technology to improve client service across its practice. It shows how Harvey is helping attorneys make complex document review more efficient, and how it is helping business professionals throughout the firm work more productively.
Shipman has approximately 160 lawyers in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts and Texas. The firm is known for pairing sophisticated corporate, litigation, employment and school law counsel with a level of personalized service that is difficult to scale at larger firms. The firm views technology as a way to strengthen that commitment, not dilute it. Shipman's AI Committee evaluated roughly 10 AI tools and selected Harvey to reduce repetitive, document-heavy work.
"It was the first professional-grade AI tool I felt genuinely comfortable using," said Dan Schwartz, Partner and chair of the firm's Technology Committee. "The quality of the output and the level of support behind the platform set it apart from everything else we reviewed."
On average, Shipman's regular Harvey users report saving more than 10 hours per week. The firm says the bigger value is how that time is used: more time for strategy, judgment, business development and the substantive work that matters most to clients.
"Clients value our expertise and judgment," said Schwartz. "AI helps us work more efficiently, but it's the human insight behind the advice that matters most."
"Mostly what it does is free up time for our people to develop business, bring in more clients, and shift their focus to more substantive work," said Michelle Doran, Chief Operations Officer.
