Matthew B. Gibbons
Associate
Matt Gibbons is an associate attorney. He has experience litigating in both state and federal courts, including thorny jurisdictional and procedural issues. Matt’s practice includes:
- Representing individuals who have been injured;
- Representing businesses in complex commercial litigation, including in intellectual property litigation;
- Representing people and entities responding to government investigations.
Matt is a former infantry squad leader in the United States Marine Corps. Prior to joining Shipman, he was an associate at a North Carolina firm where he focused on complex commercial litigation, medical malpractice defense, product liability, class actions, and intellectual property litigation. Matt was also a law clerk to the Honorable U.S. District Judge Liam O’Grady in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
During law school, Matt worked as a legal intern for the National Security Division of the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., as well as for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina in Raleigh.
