Administrative Manager – Hartford
We are seeking an Administrative Manager, resident in our Hartford office. The Administrative Manager is integral to the Firm’s ability to serve our clients and provide overall value in the delivery of legal services. This position will include regular, ongoing interface and communication with the Firm’s Practice Group Leaders, Department Chairs, and Partners to ensure Legal Practice Assistant (legal secretary), and Paralegal resources are appropriately aligned within the practice groups across the firm and that service levels are maintained.
The Administrative Manager will supervise our Legal Practice Assistants, Paralegals and Receptionists in the Hartford, Lakeville, New Haven, and Old Lyme offices. The Administrative Manager will manage workflow processes and ensure departmental needs are met by ensuring appropriate coverage during vacations and absences and ensuring there is an equitable distribution of work. The successful candidate will review time cards to ensure accuracy, completeness and payroll/accounting deadlines are met. The Administrative Manager will also prepare and conduct performance evaluations and set goals and objectives for all assigned direct reports. In addition, the Administrative Manager will monitor and ensure all firm mandatory training initiatives are met, assist with onboarding of new hires, ensure firm policies and procedures are being met, monitor paralegal billable hours, manage and oversee any progressive disciplinary processes, conduct regular staff meetings, and assist with various human resources departmental tasks as needed.
A bachelors’ degree is preferred. Previous experience as a legal secretary or paralegal is required. In addition, the successful applicant must have prior supervisory or managerial experience, preferably in a law firm setting. Superior communication skills, strong organizational skills and the ability to work effective and efficiently in a fast-paced environment is required.
Business Professional Recruiter – Hartford
We are seeking a Business Professional Recruiter, resident in our Hartford, Connecticut office. The Business Professional Recruiter will lead the development and implementation of strategic talent acquisition for non-attorney positions, aligned with firm goals. In this role the Business Professional Recruiter will proactively evaluate the staff recruiting function, strategies, and procedures, to find opportunities for improvement and will explore and implement practices allowing the firm to source, attract and retain top talent. In addition, this position will establish and implement skill-based training programs for administrative personnel while building strong relationships throughout the Firm and delivering results in a rapidly and constantly evolving environment. The successful candidate will manage all staff recruiting processes, including writing position descriptions, job postings, management of the posting process, review of all applications, screening of candidates, scheduling interviews, manage the offer process and prepare all new hire documentation. In addition, the Business Professional Recruiter manage and oversee the onboarding, orientation, and training processes for all staff hires.
A bachelor’s degree is required with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in talent acquisition and 5 years of experience in training and development. Law firm experience is strongly preferred. The successful candidate must be a self-starter with strong attention to detail and possess strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to manage multiple and rapidly changing priorities, exhibit superior judgment and interpersonal skills.
Director of Human Resources – Hartford, CT
We are seeking a Director of Human Resources, resident in our Hartford office. The Director of Human Resources will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resources (HR/Talent) Department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization’s mission and talent strategy. In collaboration with the Senior Director of Human Resources, the Director of Human Resources will develop relationships deep and wide throughout the firm to enable insights on the pulse of the organization and proactively identify areas of need. This Director is responsible for the administration and development/review of firm personnel policies and procedures, compensation planning, performance and leave management and overseeing the full cycle on-boarding/off boarding processes for staff and lawyers. The Director of Human Resources oversees human resources/talent responsibilities and activities in all firm locations while maintaining a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of Human Resources management including employee recruitment, selection, compensation, performance management, training and development and employee assistance. This position requires a thorough knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws impacting human resources, employee benefits and the retention of personnel records.
A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required. MS/MA in Human Resources a plus. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience, including several years in leadership and supervisory roles involving the development of Human Resources policies, employee recruitment and selection, administration of employee benefits in a large organization. Human Resources certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) is highly desirable. Legal or professional services firm experience preferred.
Legal Practice Assistant – Hartford
We have an opening for a Legal Practice Assistant to provide support to a group of very busy attorneys in our School Law Practice Group. This position is resident in our Hartford office. We are seeking an experienced and organized individual who can juggle multiple tasks simultaneously and work independently.
The successful candidate will have responsibility for extensive client contact and scheduling, calendar and meeting management, document production, expense tracking and reconciliation, time entry and client billing. The ideal candidate must thrive in an environment that is client-focused, fast-paced and deadline driven. In addition, the ideal candidate must possess solid oral and written communication skills, excellent organizational and time management skills in addition to being highly motivated to learn. The ability to work well under pressure, strong attention to detail and accuracy as well as being proactive in prioritizing work is necessary. Knowledge of state and federal court rules and procedures as well as experience with electronic filing in state and federal court is preferred. Strong word processing skills and the ability to utilize advanced features of Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint, is required.
