Keegan A. Drenosky

Partner

Keegan Drenosky is a member of the firm’s Employment and Labor practice group. Her practice focuses on employment counseling and litigation for private businesses, which range from Fortune 500 companies to smaller start-up enterprises, as well as manufacturers, restaurants, health care providers, quasi-public agencies, municipalities and independent schools. Keegan also provides advice to clients on due diligence reviews of employment issues in mergers and acquisitions.

In the courtroom, Keegan is a skilled negotiator and determined litigator. Her practice involves defending employers from claims of discrimination, wrongful termination, retaliation, and violations of a wide variety of employment-related laws, including leave requirements and wage and hour regulations. She frequently appears before the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO), New York Division of Human Rights, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and in state and federal courts. She also provides guidance to employers on how to model a positive workplace culture and to periodically update personnel policies for legal compliance, as well as managing a hybrid workforce with remote employees working from states across the country.

Keegan spends considerable time getting to know her clients, their business operations and levels for risk tolerance. She caters to each client’s unique business needs and plans legal strategies accordingly. Working closely with clients’ senior leadership teams and company stakeholders, Keegan identifies solutions to commonly faced employment problems. Her preventative approach, coupled with a thorough understanding of her clients' businesses, allows Keegan to spot issues before they arise. Additionally, she offers clients custom presentations and trainings on the most pressing issues facing employers such as sexual harassment prevention, employee discipline and investigations, and handling employee leave and accommodation requests. Keegan is also an active author and contributor to Shipman’s Employment Law Letter, an online resource for employers.

A portion of Keegan’s practice is devoted to supporting and giving back to her local Fairfield County community. She is a member of the firm’s pro bono committee and has represented individuals in pro bono matters, assisting nonprofit clients in defending against wrongful termination and discrimination claims, as well as with personnel issues and revisions to employee handbooks and policies. She is an active member of the board of directors for the Mill River Park Collaborative, a nonprofit organization with 12-acres of urban park land in the heart of Stamford, Connecticut that provides extensive programing and opportunities to the local community. She is also a member of the Human Resources Committee of the United Way of Coastal and Western Connecticut, and provides regular employment-related advice to this non-profit organization.

Prior to joining Shipman, Keegan practiced in the areas of product liability and employment litigation for a large regional law firm. She has served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Ellen Ash Peters and the Honorable Antoinette L. Dupont of the Connecticut Appellate Court, and was an extern at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Washington, D.C.
