Shipman Attorneys Ian Leon and Jessica Signor Honored by the New England Legal Awards

Shipman & Goodwin LLP is pleased to announce that Jessica M. Signor and Ian Leon have been recognized by the New England Legal Awards. Jessica was named a winner in the Rising Star category, which highlights lawyers under the age of 40 who have excelled in the courtroom, in client service and cultivation, service to bar associations, pro bono work, and community service. Ian was named as a finalist for the Most Promising Newcomer category which highlights attorneys who have been in the profession for three years or less who have shown outsize potential, work ethic, and legal acumen.
Jessica joined Shipman in 2019 and focuses her work primarily in the areas of workout, restructuring, and bankruptcy. “Jessica’s exceptional diligence and deep expertise in her legal practice, client-centric service, and expansive community service and pro bono accomplishments make her uniquely qualified and deserving of this honor,” said Managing Partner, Leander Dolphin. “The Firm is delighted to see her recognized for all of her contributions, both at Shipman and in our community.” Jessica says, “I am honored to receive this award and look forward to continuing my dedication and commitment to my clients and community.”
Ian joined Shipman in 2023 and his impact has been immediate and impressive. Leander says “Ian approaches complex transactions and matters with a practical, detail-oriented mindset that has earned the trust of seasoned developers and internal teams alike. We are ecstatic about his promise as a legal professional for not only our firm, but for his community at large.” Says Ian, “In the long term, I aspire to become an expert in my field and to deliver thoughtful, effective, and efficient service to my clients. But just as important, I want to continue the work of strengthening the pipeline for future lawyers.”
Jessica and Ian each have taken advantage of the pro bono opportunities at the firm and prioritize serving their communities. Jessica is Co-Chair of Community Giving at First Congregational Church Nursery School in Darien, Connecticut and volunteers at New Covenant Center of Stamford. She also represents pro bono clients through the Center for Children’s Advocacy. Ian represents pro bono clients through the Greater Hartford Legal Aid Rental Assistance Program and Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services, and is a board member of the Connecticut Hispanic Bar Association.
