Kristie focuses her practice on environmental compliance, remediation and due diligence on behalf of buyers, sellers, developers and lenders.
Kristie represents clients who are facing government enforcement actions under federal and state environmental law, including a broad range of permitting, compliance and enforcement issues under environmental statutory and regulatory frameworks such as CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, the Clean Air Act, the Connecticut Transfer Act, and workplace safety and hazard labeling under the Occupational Safety and Health Act and California Proposition 65.
When clients are involved in real estate transactions involving challenging environmental matters, Kristie assists with the management of environmental liabilities, including environmental and land use due diligence, drafting and negotiating environmental provisions in transactional agreements and environmental insurance. In addition, she frequently counsels private and public entities regarding the abatement of hazardous building materials/conditions.
Kristie also practices in the area of criminal defense, representing individuals accused of crimes in state courts.
While in law school, Kristie was a legal associate at the Connecticut Green Bank. In addition, she served as a legal intern for Senator Ted Kennedy, Jr., the Connecticut General Assembly Environment Committee and the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. Kristie was also a research assistant at the University of Connecticut Law Center for Energy and Environmental Law. In addition, while at the University of Connecticut School of Law, Kristie represented persons accused of crimes through the University of Connecticut Criminal Clinic.
