Joe Miller is an associate in Shipman’s School Law practice group, where he advises public school districts on an array of general education, special education, and labor and employment matters. He is a member of the group’s model policy team, which provides legislative updates and model policies and regulations to boards of education and charter schools. Before earning his law degree, Joe spent nearly ten years as a teacher, department head, and athletic coach in the Hartford public school system, and his practice is informed by his experience as an educator.
Prior to joining Shipman, Joe served as a law clerk to the Honorable Nora R. Dannehy at the Connecticut Supreme Court. While he was in law school, he interned at the United States Attorney’s Office, District of Connecticut, and for the Honorable Vanessa L. Bryant, United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. Joe was also an articles editor for the Connecticut Law Review, where he was awarded Best Note for his piece on public school desegregation in Connecticut, and a member of the Connecticut Moot Court Board, where he won Best Brief in the William H.
