Justin McCarthy is an associate in Shipman's Boston office. He focuses his practice on estate planning and estate administration. He works with high-net-worth individuals and families to develop comprehensive wealth transfer and tax minimization strategies.  He also guides fiduciaries and beneficiaries through the complexities of estate and trust administration.

Justin designs and implements tailored estate plans. He advises clients on tax minimization strategies, including limited liability company planning and charitable giving structures. His planning approach emphasizes anticipating potential conflicts and building safeguards into estate documents, drawing on his experience resolving contested probate matters before they escalate into full-scale litigation.

In addition to planning, Justin assists personal representatives, trustees, and beneficiaries in estate and trust administration. He advises on probate filings, fiduciary responsibilities, estate tax return preparation and the management and distribution of assets. Clients rely on his ability to navigate sensitive family dynamics while ensuring that the transition of wealth is handled with both technical precision and care.

Justin also brings a proactive, dispute-informed perspective to his drafting process. His background handling contested estates has given him a practical litigation lens, enabling him to identify common pitfalls in estate documents and implement provisions that protect clients from future disputes. This integration of dispute resolution experience and forward-thinking planning strengthens every estate plan he structures.

By combining knowledge of tax and probate law with a commitment to client relationships, Justin delivers clear, actionable guidance that allows families to protect their legacies, transfer assets efficiently and achieve long-term stability.
