Nathan Z. Plotkin

Partner

Nate Plotkin is co-chair of the Corporate Trust Practice Group. He regularly represents corporate trustees, collateral agents, escrow agents and other fiduciaries and agents in corporate debt issues, high-yield bond financings, project finance and other secured and unsecured financing transactions.  Nate also represents trustees and agents in default situations.

Prior to joining Shipman, Nate worked in the investment bank and brokerage industry as Assistant General Counsel.  In his former role, he served as legal counsel to Capital Markets/Global Fixed Income businesses and advised administrative agents and collateral agents through restructurings, debtor-in-possession financings, section 363 sale processes and exit facilities.

While in law school, Nate served as a full-time judicial intern at the United States District Court, Southern District of New York and also interned with the Superior Court of Connecticut.

Represented National Bank in connection with $2.25 Billion High-Yield Bonds for Major Retailer

Represented major national bank in connection with its role as trustee and collateral agent for $2.25 billion of high yield bonds issued by a leading retailer, including mortgaged real property in multiple jurisdictions.

Represented National Bank in $1.2 Billion High-Yield Bonds to Fund Acquisition of Genealogy Research Company

Represented major national bank in connection with its roles as trustee, collateral agent and escrow agent for $1.2 billion of high-yield bonds issued to fund the acquisition by a major private equity fund of a major online geneology research company. 

Represented Financial Institution in connection with $100 Million Debtor-In-Possession Loan and $1 Billion Term Loan for E&P Company

Represented a financial  institution as administrative agent and collateral agent in connection with debtor-in-possession credit facility and as administrative agent and collateral agent for prepetition term loan facility prior to and throughout bankruptcy of E&P Company. 

Represented National Bank for $500 Million High-Yield Bonds for Company Operating in 80 Countries and With Assets in North America and 18 Foreign Jurisdictions

Represented major national bank in connection with its role as trustee and collateral agent for $500 million of high yield bonds issued by a leading multinational wellbore and productions solutions company operating in more than 80 countries, including taking a security interest in all assets located in the United States, Canada and Mexico and 18 other foreign jurisdictions across Europe, Asia and South America.
