Amanda MacGee is counsel at Shipman’s Boston office and a member of the Trusts, Estates and Fiduciary Management practice group. She advises individuals, families, and fiduciaries on all aspects of estate and probate administration, trust administration, and related tax matters. Having spent years working as both a lawyer and for trust companies, Amanda brings a well-rounded perspective to helping clients protect and transfer their wealth.
Amanda guides personal representatives and trustees through the practical and legal responsibilities of estate and trust administration, including the gathering and distribution of assets to individual and charitable beneficiaries, preparation of annual accountings, and federal and state estate tax return filings. Amanda has particular depth in fiduciary administration, with knowledge of federal and state estate, generation-skipping, and gift taxation principles.
Her practice extends to probate proceedings, where she manages all aspects of the probate court process, including the preparation and presentation of court pleadings and affidavits. Amanda also advises on trust documentation and administration for a range of trust vehicles, including Charitable Remainder Unitrusts, trust-created foundations, and planned gifts via revocable and irrevocable trusts.
Before joining Shipman & Goodwin, Amanda served as Vice President, Estate Settlement and Fiduciary Officer at Washington Trust Company, where she managed estate and trust settlement matters and chaired the Estate Review Committee. She previously held a Vice President, Relationship Manager role at Cambridge Trust Company, overseeing a portfolio of trust and private client relationships.
