Chris Cahill is counsel in the firm’s Litigation Department. He is a seasoned litigator handling complex and high-stakes commercial litigation and administrative appeals. Chris represents individuals, businesses, and government entities in both plaintiff and defense roles, and is known for bringing a balanced, strategic perspective to every case.
Chris’ practice focuses on contract disputes and business torts, regulatory investigations, administrative appeals, and alternative dispute resolution. He has handled complex contract disputes involving private litigants in state and federal court, and in arbitration and mediation, civil investigative demands from the U.S. Department of Justice and state attorneys general, and various rate setting and similar regulatory matters in administrative hearings and appeals.
In addition to his litigation practice, Chris has significant experience with Connecticut’s Freedom of Information Act, representing both governmental bodies and private individuals before the Freedom of Information Commission. This dual perspective allows him to guide clients effectively through compliance issues, appeals, and public records disputes.
He is frequently called upon to counsel clients in contract negotiations, risk management, and early dispute resolution, often resolving conflicts before litigation becomes necessary. For private litigants, his experience includes drafting and negotiating arbitration agreements that are fair, efficient, and tailored to the specific needs of the parties involved, ensuring that if a disagreement arises, it can be resolved quickly and sensibly.
When disputes do escalate, Chris is known for his preparation, discretion and ability to manage highly sensitive litigation. He offers clients comprehensive analysis, creativity, attention to detail, and practical approaches to their most complex cases. His ability to balance assertive advocacy with thoughtful counsel has made him a trusted resource for clients seeking effective, results-oriented representation.
Chris earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and his B.A. from Yale College, and is admitted to practice in Connecticut, New York, and Washington D.C.
